Remember the old advertising campaign that encouraged us to “be like Mike”?

For those of us that witnessed Michael Jordan on the basketball court, it was common to become mesmerized by his great skills – the way he took over a game and made those around him better players.

If you didn’t know it, you wouldn’t believe this was the same player who was cut from his high school basketball team. He made basketball look effortless.

And yet, as he observes in this video, it wasn’t easy. There was pain and failure. There was a lot of practice and hard work – every single day – fueled by his desire to become a better player. And as a result, he became legendary.

Can we really “be like Mike”? What is it that you are willing to put so much effort into, to push through pain, to move beyond failure, and become legendary?
